WhatsApp-handel i Bangladesh: Den Outnyttjade Intäktskanalen Ditt Företag Ignorerar

WhatsApp Is Where Your Customers Already Are

Bangladesh has over 50 million WhatsApp users. It is the primary messaging platform for urban and semi-urban consumers. People use it to talk to their friends, their families, and increasingly — to talk to businesses. Yet most Bangladeshi businesses treat WhatsApp as a simple messaging tool rather than a sales channel with serious potential.

WhatsApp Business vs WhatsApp Business API: What Is the Difference?

There are two different products and the distinction matters:

• WhatsApp Business (free app): For small businesses. You get a business profile, catalog, quick replies, and away messages. You manage it from your phone. Good starting point, but limited for scale.
• WhatsApp Business API: For businesses needing automation and scale. Integrates with your CRM, e-commerce platform, and customer support system. Enables chatbots, automated order updates, and bulk messaging to opted-in customers. Requires a third-party provider (like Twilio or WATI) to connect.

What You Can Do With WhatsApp Commerce Right Now

Product Catalog

WhatsApp Business lets you create a product catalog that customers browse inside the chat. Add products with images, prices, and descriptions. Customers can tap "Add to Cart" and send an order inquiry. No app download required. No redirect to a website. The entire discovery-to-enquiry journey happens in WhatsApp.

Automated Order Updates

Use the API to send automated WhatsApp messages when an order is placed, shipped, out for delivery, and delivered. Customers expect this. It reduces "where is my order?" support enquiries by 30–50% in our experience.

Abandoned Cart Recovery

Customers who added to cart on your website and did not checkout can be messaged on WhatsApp (with proper opt-in). WhatsApp open rates are 95%+. Email open rates average 20%. The comparison speaks for itself.

Customer Support That Actually Gets Answered

Integrate WhatsApp with a support inbox tool (Intercom, Freshdesk, or a custom integration). Your support team handles WhatsApp chats from one dashboard. Customers get faster responses on a platform they prefer.

Compliance First

WhatsApp is strict about spam. You cannot blast promotional messages to numbers you have collected without explicit opt-in. Build your WhatsApp subscriber list properly — opt-in at checkout, on your website, at the point of sale. Done right, it is a high-value channel. Done wrong, your number gets reported and banned.

Getting Started

For most Bangladeshi businesses, the sequence is:

1. Set up WhatsApp Business app — free, takes 10 minutes
2. Add your product catalog with quality photos
3. Display your WhatsApp number prominently on your website and social media
4. Add a "Chat with us on WhatsApp" button to your website
5. As volume grows, graduate to the API for automation

WhatsApp commerce is not a future opportunity in Bangladesh. It is happening now. The businesses building these channels today will have structural advantages over those who wait.
