Blood at Midnight: The Community Platform and App We Built for Saidpur's Volunteers

At midnight in Saidpur, a family needs B-negative blood for a patient at the hospital. For years the answer was a flurry of phone calls, a Facebook post and a forwarded message that may or may not reach the right person in time.
The Social Welfare Organization of Saidpur (SWOS) has spent nine years doing exactly this kind of work: blood donation, relief, scholarships, tree planting and anti-drug campaigns. All of it runs on volunteer time and goodwill. We built SWOS a community platform and a mobile app so that goodwill reaches people faster.
Who are SWOS?
SWOS is a completely non-political humanitarian and social organisation. Its members are young people, students, teachers, engineers, doctors, business people and other professionals from Saidpur, and it has more than 120 volunteers. Its stated dream is an "inclusive, enlightened Saidpur": a city that is humane, self-respecting and liveable for everyone.
Its work spans six areas: humanitarian aid, social awareness, green and clean campaigns, leadership and skills development, student welfare, and support for children and the elderly.
What does the SWOS platform do?
- Blood bank: donors are registered, so a family in an emergency can find a match instead of hoping a post gets shared
- Help requests: anyone can apply for help with education, medical costs or an emergency, and the request reaches the people who can act on it
- Volunteer sign-up: people who want to give time have a clear way in, and the organisation knows who is available
- Donations: pick an amount and the bKash steps are shown right there, with no confusion about where money should go
- Events and campaigns: upcoming programmes, ongoing campaigns and meeting notices in one place
- Activity archive: 33 completed programmes and 499 photos across nine years, so the organisation's work is visible to donors and the public
The mobile app puts this in members' and volunteers' pockets, with notices, events and requests where people actually look: on their phones.
How does software help a volunteer organisation?
Volunteer groups rarely fail for lack of heart. They struggle with coordination: who's free on Friday, who has already been asked, which request is still open and where the donations went. Software doesn't replace the volunteers. It removes the friction between someone who needs help and someone who wants to give it.
It also builds trust. A public archive of every programme, with photos and dates, shows donors that their money became trees planted, workshops held and families helped.
Why did a Saidpur organisation choose a Saidpur software company?
Because the people building it know the city. We know which hospital the call is coming from and what "near the station" means. We can sit in the same room as the organisers when something needs to change. Read more about what we've built in Saidpur.
Can NGOs and community groups get similar software?
Yes. Blood banks, help requests, volunteer management, donation tracking and public reporting fit any NGO, club, alumni association or community group. See our portfolio, read about our software company in Saidpur, or tell us what your organisation needs.
