A Software Company in Nilphamari: How Digital MP Offices Are Giving Citizens a Voice

The drain in Panchapukur bazaar has been a problem for years. Everyone who walks through knows it, and everyone assumes someone else has already complained. Often nobody has, at least not anywhere the complaint gets written down, tracked and answered.

That's the gap we set out to close in Nilphamari. Our platform Protinidhi now runs digital MP offices for two Nilphamari constituencies, Nilphamari-2 and Nilphamari-4. Here's what that means for the people who live there.

What is a digital MP office?

It's a website where citizens can report a local problem directly to their elected representative's office and then follow what happens to it. It doesn't replace the physical office or the people who work there. It gives them a single, organised inbox, and it gives citizens a way to see that their voice actually landed somewhere.

Each constituency portal includes:

  • Report a problem: pick a category such as water and sanitation, roads, health or education, add the location and describe it in your own words
  • Track progress: every report has a status, from submitted through to resolved, that anyone can see
  • Projects: what development work is under way in the constituency
  • Transparency centre: public information about the office's work
  • News, announcements and schedule: when and where the representative is meeting people
  • Emergency numbers: the local contacts people actually need in a crisis, in one place

What kind of problems do people report?

Real, everyday ones. A shopkeeper asks for the bazaar drainage to be connected to the river so the market stops flooding. A factory worker writes about middlemen making life hard for workers at the Uttara EPZ. These are the kinds of problems that used to stay at tea-stall level because there was no simple way to put them on record.

Once a problem is written down with a location and a category, it can be counted, grouped and assigned. Ten separate complaints about the same road become one clear priority, and that changes the conversation.

Why build civic software in Nilphamari?

Because we're from here. TrustByte is based in Saidpur, in Nilphamari district. We know the upazilas, the bazaars and the way people actually talk about their problems. The portals are Bangla-first and work on an ordinary phone over a mobile connection, because that's how most people in Nilphamari will use them.

Building it locally also means we can sit with the office staff, see how complaints used to arrive (on paper, by phone, in person) and design the system around their day rather than forcing them to fit ours.

Is the platform tied to any political party?

No. Protinidhi is a technology platform for the office of an elected representative, whoever holds it. The goal is the same in every constituency: citizens can raise problems, and the office can show what it's doing about them.

Can other offices and organisations in Nilphamari use this?

Yes. The same idea of structured reporting, public tracking and transparent updates works for upazila and union offices, municipalities, NGOs and community groups. We've also built school, community and business software across the district. Read about our work in Saidpur or browse our portfolio.

How do I work with a software company in Nilphamari?

Talk to us. We're a short drive from anywhere in the district, we'll meet you in person, and the first consultation is free. Get in touch and tell us what you're trying to fix.
